Custom Wallet Manufacturing & OEM/ODM Services
Pick the route that fits your brand, change the specs that matter, and know what moves your price before you ask for a quote. Factory evidence lives on the Manufacturing page.
Where to start
Four routes into production
Every custom wallet programme at TOPWALLET starts at one of four doors. They differ in who owns the design, whether tooling is needed, and how long it takes before you have stock. Pick the door first — the rest of the conversation gets shorter.
Trusted by OEM/ODM & private-label brands across North America, Europe & APAC.
Route 01 · Most control
OEM — you design, we build
You bring a drawing, a tech pack or a reference sample. We engineer the tooling, source the material and run production to your spec. Highest control, longest lead time, tooling cost to amortise.
Route 02 · No tooling risk
ODM — we design, you brand
You choose one of our proven wallet platforms and we adapt materials, colour, logo and packaging to your brand. No tooling risk, no development cycle.
Route 03 · Fastest to stock
Private label — ready designs, your mark
An existing catalogue item gets your branding and your box. Three hundred pieces, twenty to thirty days, nothing to develop.
Route 04 · Volume supply
Wholesale — volume supply
Established models in volume, priced by tier and shipped to a container plan. This route is about freight and replenishment.
Customisation
What you can change on any design
These are the levers available on every route. Some cost nothing, some cost tooling, and two of them cost lead time. Knowing which is which is the difference between a quote you accept and one you renegotiate three times.

| Aspect | What we can do |
|---|---|
| Material | Full-grain, top-grain or vegan leather · 6063 aluminium · carbon fibre · waxed canvas · RFID shielding laminate |
| Finish | Type-II anodising in 12 standard colours · bead blast · brushed · PVD · painted edge |
| Logo | Laser etch · deboss · hot-stamp foil · screen print · metal badge · woven label |
| Hardware | Clip type, N52 magnet grade, closure style, grommets, pull tabs |
| Capacity | 3 to 20 card slots · spring ejection · elastic · money clip or cash strap |
| RFID | Shielding layer grade and placement, tested at 13.56 MHz |
| Packaging | Poly bag · mailer · rigid retail box · kraft · biodegradable |
| Compliance | REACH, RoHS, CA Prop 65 documentation on request |
Material and finish changes are free to quote. Changing capacity or mechanism geometry usually means new tooling — that is the decision that moves both cost and calendar.
Decision guide
OEM vs ODM vs Private Label: how to choose
If you are reading this page, you probably asked Google for a custom wallet manufacturer or wallet OEM — which is exactly the right question. The table below turns that question into a route decision in under a minute.
| OEM | ODM | Private Label | Wholesale | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Who owns the design | You | We build, you brand | Our catalogue | Our catalogue |
| Tooling | New, costed once | None | None | None |
| Lead time to stock | Longest | Medium | 20–30 days | Depends on volume |
| MOQ | From 300 pcs | From 300 pcs | 300 pcs | Container / tier plan |
| Best for | Brands with a design | Brands avoiding Dev risk | Fast market entry | Replenishment & freight |
Milestones
How a custom programme actually runs
This is the sequence a brand project follows from first email to a container leaving Dongguan. No stage starts before the previous one is signed off, which is why the dates we give hold up.
Pricing logic
What actually moves your unit price
Five things, in descending order of impact. Most first-time buyers guess wrong on the first two.
- Quantity. The single largest lever — moving from 500 to 5,000 pieces typically drops unit cost 18–30%.
- Tooling. A fixed cost that stops dominating once spread across volume.
- Material. Full-grain leather runs roughly 3× vegan PU and changes cutting yield.
- Finish steps. Every extra anodising or edge-painting pass adds labour and rejection risk — two-tone is the classic hidden cost.
- Packaging. At low volume a foil rigid box can cost more than the wallet — poly bag and mailer are the cheap defaults for a reason.
Legal clarity
Tooling, IP and who owns what
- Tooling you pay for is yours — kept on our rack, maintained free for 24 months after your last production run.
- Your moulds, dies and artwork are never used for any other customer.
- Need it in writing before drawings change hands? We sign your NDA or ours.
Sourcing FAQ
Custom wallet sourcing, answered
What is the MOQ for a custom wallet?+
300 pieces per colour on most routes. Private label starts at 300 pieces; wholesale follows a volume tier or container plan.
How fast can I get a prototype?+
CNC or 3D-printed prototypes ship in 7–15 days, so you can validate fit, mechanism feel and finish before any tooling spend.
How long does production take after approval?+
25–35 days from pre-production sign-off, with in-line inspection and a pre-shipment AQL 2.5 report included.
What does tooling cost and who owns it?+
Tooling is quoted once and amortised across your order. Moulds, dies and jigs you pay for are yours. We store them free for 24 months after the last run and never use them for other customers.
Will you sign an NDA before we share designs?+
Yes — we sign yours or ours, before drawings change hands. IP protection is a documented part of every OEM and ODM project.
Can you do my logo, RFID and retail packaging?+
Yes. Logo methods include laser etch, deboss, foil, screen print, metal badge and woven label. RFID shielding is laminated and tested at 13.56 MHz, and packaging runs from poly bag to rigid foil box.
What information do you need for a quote?+
A drawing, a reference sample, or a target price, plus quantity and any must-have specs (material, finish, capacity, RFID). We confirm feasibility and name the cost drivers before you commit to anything.
Start your custom wallet programme
Tell us your design, material and quantity requirements. We scope tooling, sampling and production together — one conversation, then a clear quote.
Programme types we have built
Nine out of ten sourcing conversations start with the same question: "have you actually done this before?" These are representative programme types from our production floor — buyer type, route taken, and outcome at handover. Client names are withheld; every timeline and MOQ is the one we quote in real RFQs.
1 — Amazon seller launch: pop-up wallet, US marketplace
The buyer. EDC operator with two ASINs, a third SKU needed, no tooling budget.
Route & outcome. Stock Aluminum Pop-Up RFID Wallet, logo sample in 9 days, 1,500 pcs FBA-ready, shipped 28 days after P.O.; AQL 2.5 across three reorders.
2 — EDC brand OEM: custom mechanism, private tooling
The buyer. Design-led brand with a lever-release aluminium wallet concept and no factory relationship.
Route & outcome. DFMA review cut two tooling-cost features, CNC mechanism prototype in 12 days, production at the 3,000 pcs ODM threshold; per-batch pull-test report.
3 — Distributor programme: mixed container, six SKUs
The buyer. European distributor building a seasonal collection across entry metal, mid leather and premium stainless steel.
Route & outcome. Six designs on one calendar (five stock tools, one custom colourway), anodizing matched across SKUs, one mixed 40′ container with a single QC report.
4 — Corporate gifting: multi-tier programme, three gift levels
The buyer. 3-level gifting drop to 1,000 recipients across EU + APAC.
Route & outcome. Matched set — aluminium card holder, leather bifold, leather money clip — one engraving language, rigid boxes top tier; production 30 days, drop-shipped both regions.
Every project above started with a one-page brief — who you sell to, which design or price point, and when you need goods. Send that in and we reply with a routing: stock tooling, private label, or full ODM. See full case studies or start with a quote request.
