Case Studies: Wallet Programmes We Have Built

Nine out of ten sourcing conversations start with the same question: “have you actually done this before?” Below are representative programme types from our production floor — the buyer type, the problem, the route we took, and the outcome at handover. Client names are withheld; every timeline, MOQ and QC step is the one we quote in real RFQs.

The buyer. An e-commerce operator with two existing ASINs in the EDC niche, looking for a third SKU with a video-friendly mechanism.

What they needed. FBA-ready packaging, barcode and label application, and a product whose one-handed ejection would demo in a 15-second listing video. They had no tooling budget — the design had to be an existing tooled style.

How we ran it. We matched them to the Aluminum Pop-Up RFID Wallet (stock tool, no development cost), supplied a pre-production sample with their logo in 9 days, and shipped the first 1,500 pcs FBA-ready: polybagged, barcoded, carton dimensions matched to Amazon’s requirements, RFID test report included per shipment.

Outcome. First order shipped 28 days after P.O. confirmation; reorder arrived before their forecast ran out. The batch QC has held at AQL 2.5 across three reorders.

2 — EDC brand OEM: custom mechanism, private tooling

The buyer. A design-led EDC brand with a concept (a lever-release card wallet in aluminium) and no factory relationship.

What they needed. Industrial design feedback, DFMA (design for manufacture), mechanism prototyping, and a partner that could own tooling and QC.

How we ran it. We challenged two features that would have doubled their tooling cost (a threaded insert and a curved tray rail), CNC-prototyped the mechanism in 12 days, froze the spec at the pre-production sample, and moved to production at the 3,000 pcs ODM threshold where tooling amortisation worked.

Outcome. The final SKU carries their brand, our mechanism engineering, and a per-batch pull-test report the team uses in their “how it’s made” content.

3 — Distributor programme: mixed container, six SKUs, one season

The buyer. A European distributor assembling a seasonal wallet collection across price points — entry metal, mid leather, premium stainless steel.

What they needed. One factory to cover six SKUs so colour language and packaging matched across the range; container-level mixing; stable lead times for catalogue-printed delivery dates.

How we ran it. We consolidated six designs into one production calendar (stock tools for five, one custom colourway), matched anodizing batches across SKUs, and shipped one mixed 40′ container with a single QC report and retained samples per style.

Outcome. Colour consistency across SKU boundaries — the thing that sinks most multi-SKU catalogues — was verified before loading. Reorder window booked the following season.

4 — Corporate gifting: multi-tier programme, three gift levels

The buyer. A company running a 3-level gifting drop (executive, manager, staff) to 1,000 recipients in EU + APAC.

What they needed. Tiered products with matched brand language, rigid gift boxes, and direct-to-recipient shipping into two regions with correct export documents.

How we ran it. We built a matched set: aluminium business card holder (executive), full-grain leather bifold with deboss (manager), and leather money clip wallet (staff) — one shared engraving language across all three, rigid boxes for the top tier, kraft sleeve others.

Outcome. Branding approved on prep samples, production ran 30 days, and a single drop-shipped programme reached recipients in both regions with customs paperwork handled at origin.

Does your programme fit one of these?

Every project above started with a one-page brief: who you sell to, which design or price point, and when you need goods. Send us that and we will reply with a routing: stock tooling, private label, or full ODM — plus MOQ, lead time and a landed-cost range, within one business day.
