How a programme runs
Six stages, each gated by sign-off
No stage starts before the previous one is approved, so dates and unit costs stay real from first brief to reorder.
Inquiry & brief
Product idea, drawing, reference sample or a target price. We confirm feasibility and flag cost drivers within one business day.
Feasibility & quote
Material options, tooling cost, MOQ and a production slot, quoted on the route you picked — no hidden line items.
Sampling
Physical sample in 7–15 days: materials, mechanism, branding and packaging all reviewed before anything is signed off.
Production
25–35 days to finished goods after sample sign-off, with the spec frozen at approval so the batch matches the sample.
Quality control
Four-stage QC with a 100% final inspection and AQL 2.5 sampling — retained samples kept for every batch shipped.
Shipping & reorder
EXW, FOB Shenzhen, CIF or DDP. Approved files stay on our line, so a reorder runs on the same spec and dates.
What private label is — and is not
Private label means an existing, tooled design gets your branding, your colourway and your packaging, then ships as your product. No tooling, no development, no engineering risk. It is the shortest route from a decision to stock on a shelf: 300 pieces, 20–30 days.
What it is not: a custom product. The silhouette, mechanism and internal layout stay as they are. If your competitive advantage depends on a shape nobody else has, you want ODM at least, and probably OEM. Private label wins on speed and on capital, not on differentiation.
Branding methods compared
The method you pick has to suit the material. Laser on leather looks burnt and cheap; deboss on aluminium needs a die and a much higher force. This table is what we recommend and what it costs you in lead time.
| Method | Works on | Added lead time | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Laser etch | Aluminium, carbon fibre, metal plates | +2 days | Permanent, no colour. Best precision on anodised surfaces. |
| Deboss | Full-grain and top-grain leather | +5 days | Die required, one-off cost. Reads as quality at retail. |
| Hot-stamp foil | Leather, PU, coated board | +5 days | Gold, silver, matte black. Die required. |
| Screen print | Canvas, nylon, PU | +3 days | Colour logos. Screen charge per colour. |
| Metal badge | Any | +10 days | Brass or stainless plate. Highest perceived value. |
| Woven label | Fabric, lining | +7 days | Standard on soft goods. Minimum 1,000 labels. |
Packaging that is actually retail-ready
Packaging is where private-label programmes most often go wrong. A wallet can be perfect and still fail at the shelf or in a fulfilment centre because of the box. We run four standard levels, and each has a different job.
Poly bag
Dust protection with a barcode label. The default for marketplace fulfilment and the cheapest option. Nothing else.
Mailer box
Corrugated with a printed sleeve. Right for DTC shipping — survives the courier network, still branded on arrival.
Rigid retail box
Foil logo, insert tray, sleeve. What a shop shelf needs. Costs more than the wallet below about 500 units.
Kraft / biodegradable
Unbleached board, soy ink, no lamination. For brands with a stated sustainability position.
Built for Amazon and DTC sellers
Marketplace sellers have requirements that a factory which only serves retailers never encounters. We handle these routinely:
- FNSKU or EAN labelling applied per unit, not per carton, with the correct placement for scanning.
- Poly bags with suffocation warnings printed to the required size for your marketplace.
- Carton weights and dimensions kept inside fulfilment-centre limits so you do not get hit with oversize fees.
- Flat-pack cartons where possible — a seated wallet box costs roughly double to ship compared with a flat one.
- Direct-to-fulfilment shipping, including split shipments across multiple warehouses.
What a private-label run costs
There is no tooling line on this quote, which is the whole point. Your cost breaks into four parts: the base product at a volume tier, the branding set-up (die or screen, if any), the packaging, and the freight. On a 500-piece run of an aluminium card holder with laser branding and retail boxes, packaging is typically the second-largest line after the product itself — which surprises almost everyone the first time.
Ask for the quote split this way. If a supplier gives you one blended unit price, you cannot see where your money goes, and you cannot cut it later.
Private-label questions
Can I mix colours to reach the 300-piece minimum?
Yes. 300 pieces per colour is the standard, but a 500-piece order split across two colours is accepted on most designs.
Will my competitor sell the same product?
The base design can appear under other brands. If that is unacceptable, move to ODM with an exclusive colourway or to OEM with your own tooling.
How fast can I get a branded sample?
3–5 days from stock for laser or hot-stamp. Add 5–10 days if a new badge or woven label has to be made.
Can you ship direct to a fulfilment centre?
Yes, including split shipments and with the labelling applied to your marketplace specification.
White Label vs Full Custom: Pick Your Route
Two sourcing routes, one factory. Both end with your brand on the wallet; they differ in MOQ, tooling and lead time.
| White label (existing platform) | Full custom (new tooling) | |
|---|---|---|
| MOQ | 300 pcs | 1,000 pcs (tooling amortised) |
| Design | Existing stock models; finish, colour and logo changed | Your drawing or reference; DFMA review, new tooling |
| Sampling | 7-15 days | Tooling 15-25 days + sample 7-15 days |
| Lead time | 25-35 days after sample sign-off | 25-35 days after sample sign-off |
| Branding | Laser / deboss / hot stamp, Pantone colours, retail packaging, FBA-ready | Same branding options plus structural details |
